Honeymoon Day 4 - Sun Moon Lake 日月潭

Hello and good morning from meow meow!

We woke up pretty early for the breakfast.
We wanted to catch the sunrise but we let the poor alarm ring for a very long time.
When we finally crawled out of the warm bed, we missed the sunrise already~

The dining area with great view. :)
Couldn't see anything during dinner as the sky gets really dark after 5pm.

P clicking the camera shutter below the table and act as if it was a candid photo. -_-

The super yummy breakfast!!!
I polished everything despite my gastric acting up.
After breakfast we decided to take a walk outside.

Love the view. Love the weather. Perfect honeymoon trip.

We booked a car from the minsu to bring us down to Sun Moon Lake.
The trip cost NT450 per person.

The driver drop us at the Shuishe Visitor Centre (水社遊客中心), where we purchase bus ticket there.

Guo Guan Bus, NT460 per person.
From SunMoon Lake to Taipei.

It is advisable to get the tickets one day before to avoid the queue.

Read Doris Home review here : Doris Home

We got the ferry tickets at only NT100 per person from Greg!
Great deal!

Greg also advise us to dine at Sun Moon Restaurant for lunch instead of dinner.
Because the place is packed during dinner and it's impossible to get seats.

I did some calculating and it's actually cheaper to get the set lunch meal.
The set meal cost around NT980 (SGD41) for 2 person.

It is considered VERY cheap for a 8 courses meal + free flow of tea.

A pot of red tea, Sun Moon Lake is known for it's red tea.

The first dish is steamed chicken. The chicken is cold. o.0
I don't really like white chicken because of the skin and I definitely don't like it cold.
Ew.

The second dish is stir fried fresh mushroom with long beans.
Love it!

Taiwan has really really sweet vegetable.
I love all the vegetables I ate there.

Next up, bamboo rice!
It's fragrant and yummy.

Here comes the mixed mushroom soup.
The amount of mushroom in this set lunch is too damn high.
Hahahaha we couldn't even finish them.

And we were served a big pot of rice.

Just as we thought all the dishes are served, the waitress came over with this.

O.O
Honestly speaking we didn't really go through the whole menu.
We sat down and ordered the set lunch without knowing what we ordered. (Menu is in Chinese)

Sun Moon Lake's most famous fish, president fish.
Very fresh and huge!!!
We believed that the fish will cost SGD40 on it's own.

Ending the meal with super sweet pineapple!

We were told to cut through oTop to get to the pier. (Short cut)
But unfortunately it was closed that day for stock keeping. :(

We took the longer way to the pier and saw our favorite machine on the way.

You have to look for this portable counter to exchange your ferry tickets to a stamp.

There will be one ferry every 30mins.
Which is quite a long wait under the sun.
So time the ferry before walking over the jetty.

First destination
Shuishe Pier -> Syuan Guang Temple (玄光寺)

Took around 15 mins to reach there.

When you are here, you have to try the "Ah Ma Mushroom Tea Leaf Egg"
金盆阿嬷香菇茶葉蛋
NT13 for 1.
Buy more to get discounts.

We bought 1 to try, tasted a bit different from what we normally had.
But not THAT amazing. So over rated.

We climbed the stairs up to the temple.

We didn't pray because we didn't know how to.
Took some pictures and went back to the pier.

We saw a lot of portable fruits stall.
But I don't like fruits that are not cold, so we didn't try it. :x

Syuan Guang Temple -> Ita Thao Village (伊達邵)

To get to Formosa Aboriginal Culture Village, you have to take the cable car over.
We decided to give it a miss because P doesn't enjoy theme park.

There is absolutely nothing to do here. Lol.
Not a lot of stores are opened.
Most of the stores sells traditional clothes and decorations.

And we saw this cool tree.
The flower looks like cotton wool.

After we left a lot of people crowd around to look at the tree too.

This is a very nice ice cream. NT25
Very flavorful. :)

Introducing the only reason to be at Ita Thao if you didn't want to visit Formosa.

THIS STALL.

The chicken wings are stuffed with rice.
And the wasabi prawn is wrapped in lettuce.
NT60 each.

We regretted not getting more!

KILL.ME.PLEASE.
I need one of each right now.

Wild xiao bai appears~
I think it's hungry and it keep following us while we were eating.

P suggested to buy sausages for it but I doubt they can eat that.
So poor thing. :(

We took the ferry back to Shuishe Village.
Borrowed the bike from Doris Home and went for a ride to catch the sunset!

We actually went the wrong way, a very kind uncle point us to the other direction.
If not we will miss the sunset.

And here we are.
A lot of people took their wedding photo here and I can see why.

We took a few pictures before leaving.

When we got back, a plate of guava is sitting in the fridge waiting for us.
Thank you Greg for the super good service!

As all the shops closes at about 8pm, we bought instant noodle from the 7-11 as dinner.
Turn in very early.
