Cambodia Day 1 - Welcome to Cambodia.

After so many meetings and plannings,
A lot of preparations and practices,
Today is finally the day.

Previously our trip to Cambodia was from 03 March 09 till 15 March 09.
But they couldn't get a flight on the 15th,
Thus they extended our stay till 16 March 09.

P stayed at my place the previous night.
Had to wake up at 4am.
We took cab together with Cousin Sally( My Faci-in-charge ) to the Airport.

Traveling with Jetstar 3K599 at Changi Airport Terminal 1.

Still had some time to waste before flying to Siem Reap.
So we took a lot of photos at the airport.

Smile with me!

P bought me Starbucks coffee @ the Terminal.
But it's kinda unless cause I still feel very sleepy.

I was actually too excited to sleep last night.
&We chatted about our first flight experience till 4am.

I was lucky that my sis & cousin let me have the window seat during our Hong Kong trip.
And maybe it's fate,
P's first flight trip was to Hong Kong too!
(&We set off during the same date without knowing one another!)

He's more unlucky caused he didn't get a window seat.
So I let him have the window seat this time.

Oh sunrise!

Nice window view with the wing of the plane.

The flight duration is 1 hour and 35 mins.
Which I slept all the way LOL.

Photobucket

I was amazed when we reached the airport.
We actually step onto an open empty space with planes flying around without aircon?!?!?!

#FirstWorldIgnorance

Snapped a picture "inside" the airport while waiting for our luggage to come out.
Something fuck up happened.

My pink luggage got stained badly by the plane fuel.
-_-"

It's so clean and pink and everything nice!
&Now it's black, dirty and smelly.

Quite a spoiler but not enough to spoil my mood.
&Thank God my stuffs inside are safe! :D

Took a group photo once we checked out.

Greeted by another big piece of empty land with our bus in the middle of nowhere.

Hopped on and the bus took us to the Guest House we'll be staying @ for more than a week.

Was asked to pick a partner to share a room with.
So I shared the room with Gio, my dearly!

P shared the room with Jason.

Our room is the second room on the left,
While their's is the last room on the right.

And this is our room.
Sorry for the mess.
Didn't get to snap a picture before we messed it up. LOL.

OH YA.
&The backyard of the guest house is actually a...
.
.
.
.
.

Crocodile farm!!!!!!!!!!!! :/
There are a lot of crocodile farm in Cambodia.
They sells the skin and meat for profits.

&There is a bar area outside the guest house for us to buy drinks.

After we unpacked and did a short briefing,
We went for lunch at a Malay eatery nearby.

Everyone is given a budget of USD$4 for a meal.
If we wishes to order expensive food and drinks,
We have to top up with our own $.

Wondering what the women is doing?
She's selling unripe fruits.

In Cambodia, you see portable stall everywhere.
&5 people share one motor bike.

I ordered seafood fried rice and mango juice.
The food is acceptable but not yummy.

After lunch we headed back to the guest house and wait for a lorry to pick us up.

The lorry is sent by the orphanage to bring us there.

On the way,
We saw KFC!!!
Oh my god. It's opening soon.

Was quite surprise to actually sees KFC there.

When we reached the beautiful place,
My hair was coated by a thick layer of dirt and sand already.
Air in Cambodia is so far from fresh.

Anyway a little introduction of the place,

Since 2001 the Sangkheum Center for Children ('sangkheum' means 'hope' in the Khmer language) has been providing education, training, scholastic support and care to disadvantaged children and youth in Cambodia.

More about Sangkheum Center : Website

We were brought around the place.
This is the place where we will be hanging around for more than a week.

The place that they stay.

After visiting them and saying hello to the kids,
We headed for dinner and than back to guest house to prepare for work tomorrow!

We have to practice a dance to perform during the last day.
Lack of sleep but happy!

Oh and before I end this post,
I have something to confess.

P & Jason did not sleep in their room.
They came to our room to sleep every single night.

That until we're caught!
HAHA! More details about that during the next few posts!

Stay tune!
