Taipei 2013 - Day Five (实在好湾)

Raise and shine for Day 5.
Today we decided to try the famous Yong-He(永和豆浆) for breakfast.

It was easy to locate, right around the corner at XiMenDing, near some Dragon Hotel.

Super long and crispy YouTiao and thick soya milk.

Xiao Long Bao!!! Seriously?! Why did they serve this as breakfast?
It's sooooooooooo freaking good!

Bacon and egg pancake.(葱油饼)

Everything really taste so good!
And it’s very cheap. We spent less than SGD10 for the meal.
Planned to go back for breakfast again but time is running out. :’(

Didn’t manage to go back to the shop, never mind next trip then!

After an awesome breakfast we went to the hot spring at Xin Bei Dou (新北斗).
To get there, you can take the MTR to Bei Dou (北斗) then alight and switch to a train like our LRT to Xin Bei Dou (新北斗).

The train looks like this. Colourful and the theme inside is cute!

As it is raining when we reached, we went to visit the hot spring museum first.
It’s free entry and you have to remove your shoes to go in.
Very interesting place you might not want to miss if you’re there.

The thing we did. Stamp the book and collect name cards. Haha.

The touch when they say "Do not touch" badass photo. LOL.
Don't sue us, we didn't really touch it. :(

The rain did not stop and most of the hot spring is open air.
Thus they stop operation and we couldn’t get to experience the hot spring.
If you walked further down, you will find the thermal hot spring which is free for people to soak their feet.

We gave that a miss and went for lunch at Sushi Express again.

Bought P a Monkey.D Luffy key chain.
His favorite One Piece pirate.

After that we took the MTR to Dan Shui (淡水).
Right there at Dan Shui (淡水), you get to walk around the Old Street (老街) to enjoy the street food.

But our main motive of going there is to take the ferry to the lover’s bridge. (渔人码头)

The beautiful station of Dan Shui (淡水).

HELLO KITTY ICE CREAM AT 7-11!!!!

 HOLY MOTHER COW.

P bought me one hahaha. It's about SGD1-2 only.
I actually wanted to buy all. :(
But ice cream cannot keep.

As usual, there will be a whole lot of shops selling the ferry ticket; we bought it from one of the shop as the shop keeper came to us.
It cost NT120 (SGD5) for a trip to and fro.

Well of cos you can choose to be a bad-ass and buy the ticket to lover’s bridge and later purchase another ticket from the ticket counter at lover’s bridge.
But it’s cheaper to buy them together.

So we took a lot of pictures there and scroll down the bridge.
Helped a lot of couples to take their pictures too.
Beautiful place.

While waiting for the return ferry, we went to try the famous Ah Gei (阿给).

And surprising it taste as bad as the fishball at JiuFen.

It's like glass noodle inside tofu skin.
Ewww.

The 2 pictures above were taken by a very cute auntie.
We asked if she could help us take a picture together with the bridge, she said okay.
But both the picture turned out without the bridge.

Then she told us she decided that 1) Got seagull 2)The boat is nice.
HAHAHAHAHAH. Joker.

So we thanked her and went to look for another tourist a while  later to retake this shot.

And here we are, back to Dan Shui (淡水).
Bought a few tidbits and sweets back for friends and family.
They sell really cheap sweet at the price of NT1 (SGD0.04).
Okay….buy ALL the sweets!!!

Walked around the Old Street (老街) and bought the famous Ah Po iron egg. (阿婆铁蛋)

It tasted salty and hard but quite addictive to chew on.

There were other brand of Iron Egg but they seriously sucks.
Ah Po one is the best! NT200 (SGD8.40) for a packet.
I would say it's pretty expensive but worth a try.

We chance upon Ripley's Believe It or Not at Taiwan.

Didn’t go in as it was quite late and P wanted to revisit Shilin night market.

Back to ShiLin night market at JianTan station.

Read my first day entry if you haven't, link right at the end of this post.

Went to try food we had missed out the first time we were there. (Basement)

And to eat the stinky tofu which I’ve been craving about since the first day.

The best drink to quench your thirst.
It's some cool jelly with lime. (爱玉冰)
NT30 (SGD1.25)

I couldn’t find the stinky tofu store from the first day so I tried smelly tofu at the other store together with a T-bone steak.

And guess what? A T-bone steak cost only NT250 (SGD10.40)!!!

Say whatttttttttttt. It’s cheap and freaking mad nice.

I’m going to marry the steak instead.

The stinky tofu is not stinky and not nice.
Too dry and tasteless. :(
Ate one piece only.

My husband with P.

It comes with spaghetti and egg too!
OH GOD YES.
How could you be so perfect? :')

After turning for a few rounds, I finally found my favorite stinky tofu store!!!
Don't say I never share, this is the shop.
Zhong Cheng Hao, with a pork as the chef in the logo.

Hello love!!!
The reason why I love it, it's because it is really f-ing smelly hahahaha.
P doesn't want to speak to me after I ate all 4.

Then we went to try cutter fish soup.
Sounds disgusting and taste weird too.

It's sticky and salty. Taste even weirder when we added pepper.

Errr. What I want to say is, it's extremely dangerous for you to leave your belongings in the locker.
Because you will come back and find them missing.
#Suay

But it kinda awesome to be walking around without any bags.
Just bring your personal belonging and leave your shopping bags inside.

After that we left the basement and went to look for more street food.

Tried the yummy oyster mushroom.
It's expensive as they sell it by grams.

And bought sweet potato back to munch on the way back.

Loots for Day 5. :)
Bought the pants and shoes at a NT99 shop.
Super shiok.
